E-waste Orientation & Collection Drive
Social Responsibility Cell in collaboration with Book my Junk (NGO) organized E-waste Orientation & Collection drive on 24.03.2023 and 29.03.2023 respectively. Mr. Neeraj Kapoor, Advisor & Brand Evangelist addressed the students about the significance of recycling e-waste & contributing towards sustainable cities. Further, the e-waste collection drive was organized by TGBS as an outreach activity on 29.03.2023. Various institutes like TIMSR, TIMSCDR & TCET participated with full enthusiasm. The activity made a significant impact upon the stakeholders of the institutes. Knowledge attained was the vitality of E-waste recycling. Skills acquired planning, organizing, coordination & attitude instilled was sensitivity towards life on land.
Republic Day
TGBS, Social Responsibility Cell in collaboration with Student Council celebrated ‘Republic day’ on January 24 & 26, 2023. On the eve of Republic day, students had presented a skit on the theme ‘Nari Shakti’ on January 24, 2023. The skit aims at highlighting the contribution of various women leaders & warrior. On 26th January, TGBS students also participated in thematic parade with Education as a theme & representation of 16 educational women leaders. Knowledge gained was significance of Republic day. Skills acquired were public speaking, organizing. Attitude instilled was resilience & patriotism.
National Youth Day
TGBS, Social Responsibility Cell celebrated ‘National Youth Day’ on January 12, 2023. The event was organized to sensitize students about the teachings of Swami Vivekanand & encourage the youth community to contribute towards the growth & expansion of the nation. Activities included pledge taking ceremony, quiz & speech about learnings from Swami Vivekanand. The event instilled a sense of responsibility among the student community. Knowledge gained was 3 Ps, management lessons from Swami Vivekanand, social awareness. Skills acquired were speaking, thinking, presentation. Attitude instilled was a sense of responsibility towards the nation.
Joy of Giving
TGBS under Social Responsibility Cell in collaboration with Being Sevak (NGO) organized “Joy of Giving” drive to commemorate Christmas eve .The drive included distribution of blankets to the under-privileged people at various locations of Borivali & Kandivali. Key learnings from the drive was to understand the daily needs of under-privileged people (K), acquired planning, organizing & communication skills & instilled an attitude of giving back to the society TGBS made a financial contribution for the noble cause. The drive was an attempt to address “No poverty-SDG 1” as one amongst the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Workshop on POSH
Thakur Global Business School (TGBS) under Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) and Women Development Committee (WDC) had organized a “Workshop on POSH” on 3rd December 2022 for teaching and non-teaching staff members as per AICTE requirement for creating awareness for Implementation of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The resource person for the session was Prof. Anuja Roy. She is a POSH Certified trainer. The session focused on spreading awareness of the POSH act guidelines on prevention on sexual harassment at the workplace.
Discrimination against women
Social Responsibility Cell, in collaboration with Women’s Development committee organized an experiential activity ‘Pakhwada’ on the topic “Discrimination against Women” on 29th November 2022. The activity focused on encouraging students’ thoughts on ways to eradicate discrimination against women in any form. The discussion also endeavored in promoting ‘Gender Equality’. PGDM students participated with full enthusiasm & have gained from this pragmatic activity.
The knowledge gathered is innovative ways to exterminate discrimination against women. Skills acquired are public speaking, creativity & logical reasoning. Attitude embarked is commitment towards encouraging gender equality in one’s own capacity.
Constitution Day
Social Responsibility Cell celebrated Indian Constitution Day on 26th November 2022. Events included:
- Pledge taking ceremony
- E-integrity pledge via https://mpa.gov.in/constitution-day
- Quiz on “ The Constitution of India”
- 2 minutes silence to pay homage to the martyrs of 26/11
PGDM students & teaching & non-teaching staff participated in the event. The activities highlighted the significance of the constitution of India. Knowledge engrained is fundamental rights & duties of Indian citizens. Skills acquired are planning, organizing, and public speaking. Attitude instilled is patriotism & respect towards Indian Constitution.
Vigilance Awareness week
Social Responsibility Cell celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week on October 31, 2022 & November 03, 2022. Events included:
- Pledge taking ceremony
- Skit on “Corruption Free India for a developed Nation”
- Role Play on the journey & contribution of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patelji
- Slogan making competition
- Awareness about evil effects of corruption & e-integrity pledge by students, teaching & non-teaching staff
84 PGDM students & 16 teaching & non-teaching staff attended the event. Top 3 slogans from students & staff were felicitated. Knowledge engrained is evil effects of corruption & contribution from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patelji’s life trajectory. Skills acquired are planning, communication, organizing, and creativity. Attitude instilled is amicability, collaborative approach.
Beach Cleaning Activity
Social Responsibility Cell in collaboration with Being Sevak (NGO) organized beach cleaning activity at Aksa beach, Malad-west on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 02 October, 2022. The activity was conducted under the Indian Government’s Swachh Bharat Mission. Overall 21 TGBS students participated as volunteers to clean a part of the beach. This activity added value to the environment sustainability & improve the quality of marine life.
Knowledge attained were ways to reduce pollution in the marine ecosystem & sensitization towards environment sustainability. Skills acquired included techniques to remove wastage from the ocean & attitude instilled was sensitivity towards marine ecosystem.
International Peace Day
Social Responsibility Cell celebrated International Peace Day on September 21, 2022. The activities included dissemination of information on the relevance of peace within the lives of human being. A quiz was conducted with an endeavor to evaluate knowledge about International Peace Day. PGDM sem 1 & sem 3 students attended the event along with faculty members.
Knowledge gathered includes significance of International Peace Day. Skills acquired are listening, thinking. Attitude instilled was acceptance towards national days of significance & respect for history of India.
Menstrual Health & Hygiene Management
Social Responsibility Cell (SRC), in collaboration with Whisper organized a guest session on “Menstrual Health & Hygiene Management” for female students, teaching & non-teaching female staff members. The session was conducted on August 27, 2022 & is an extension activity by SRC. Overall, 98 internal participants & 29 external participants attended the session. The outcomes of the session were awareness about menstrual health & hygiene practices, personality enhancement techniques, listening & demonstration skills.
Save the Flag
On the eve of 75th Independence Day, Social Responsibility Cell, in collaboration with Being Sevak (NGO) organized a cleanliness drive under “Save the Flag” campaign, on August 16, 2022. The areas covered were by the volunteers of TGBS:
- Farid estate
- Singh estate
- Chikalwadi
- Siddarth Nagar
- Thakur village
The activity aimed at ensuring environment sustainability & endeavors to maintain the respect & dignity of the national flag.
75th Independence day Celebration
Social Responsibility Cell celebrated 75th Independence Day at TGBS from 10th August – 16th August, 2022 by organizing various activities in the mentioned dates.
- 10th August – 12 August, 2022 – Creating awareness about independence Day & invoke feeling of patriotism, Flag Hoisting
- 13 August 2022 – Visit to Municipal School , poster making Competition
- 14 August 2022 – Skit on “Swach Vichar Swach Samaaj & Quiz Competition
- 15 August 2022 – Central gathering & Flag Hoisting with parade
- 16 August 2022 – “Save the Flag” Drive in collaboration with Being Sevak “NGO”
The activities created a sense of patriotism amongst the students & other members & was an enriching experience for the teaching, non-teaching staff & students. The skills acquired were strategizing, planning, organizing, creativity, team work. Attitude gained includes unity & adaptive.
Hygiene Practices
Social Responsibility Cell organized a visit at Lalji Trikamji Hindi Shala, Municipal School, Borivali-E & conducted following activities:
- Session by TGBS students on “Hygiene Practices” for grade 3- 8 children
- Fun learning games
- Distribution of 100 notebooks to the school
The activities proved to be a learning experience for TGBS students & also contributed to the social upliftment of the children at the municipal school. The Principal & teachers appreciated the efforts of TGBS. The children were excited to learn & enjoyed fun games.
The visit embarked a sense of ownership & responsibility amongst the students participated in the visit. The skills acquired were planning, organizing, creativity, team work. Attitude gained includes sensitivity & empathy.
International Yoga Day
Social Responsibility cell organized International Yoga Day event at TGBS on June 21, 2022. Activities included DMS, guided yoga exercises for the Teaching & Non-teaching staff. For BLs, in addition to yoga exercises, theme based research & presentation activity was organized followed by R&R. Various topics on the theme “Yoga for Enhanced Productivity’ was assigned to the BLs. The experiential activity added value to the KSA of the BLs. Lastly, the event ended with words of gratitude to the ecosystem of TGBS, Management & HOI for the constant support & all directly & indirectly involved in making IYD a success!
Yoga external event
To gain a learning experience of the International Yoga Day, students at TGBS represented the institute on June 19, 2022 at a special yoga session organized by Bharama Kumaris, Borivali (E). The yoga Guru Pratishtha Acharya instructed varied yoga exercises performed by the students along with a sensitization of benefits of the same. This event proved to be an enriching experiential learning for TGBS students. Lastly, the event ended with gaining words of wisdom from Acharya ji & words of gratitude to the ecosystem of TGBS, Management & HOI for the constant support & all directly & indirectly involved in making International Yoga Day a success.
