Learning with Legend

Finance Department of TGBS hosted an insightful “Learning with Legend” session featuring Mr. Chandrashekhar Tilak, Ex-Executive Vice-President of NSDL, on the topic “Indian Economy and Recent Investment Trends.” Mr. Tilak highlighted the transformation of India’s economy, from agriculture’s 94% GDP share before 1947 to less than 9% today, and explained the evolving roles of agriculture, industry, and services. He emphasized post-COVID investment shifts, including growth in the housing and film industries, and opportunities in green energy through NTPE. A key focus was defence, with India’s Aatm Nirbhar Bharat push towards 75% indigenization, supported by recent defence deals worth ₹3,400 thousand crore. The speaker also shared insights on tourism’s GDP contribution (3.98%) and Sagicity’s 95% market share. The session combined data, trends, and humour, making complex economic concepts engaging and leaving students with valuable takeaways on investment and national economic growth.
